2 Six Sigma Marketing: The Literature Perspective

There are very few literatures available on this concept so far; however, there are plenty of concepts/books/literatures on Six Sigma and Marketing subjects available in isolation. Therefore, we understand the necessity of providing some of the available literatures and provide some critical account of both the fields, so that the professionals can understand the tenets of integration of Six Sigma and Marketing. Some books limited to Six Sigma Marketing are as follows:Sales and Marketing: The Six Sigma way by Webb and Gorman (2006): In this book, author proposed process-based Six Sigma approach with its utility in marketing, where the authors demonstrate Six Sigma application in marketing based on improving performance of a company’s website named Technical Resume Group (TRG). Considering origin of Six Sigma in production, authors provided unique dimension to the sales and marketing process. Author proposed very interesting analogy between production process and sales and marketing. According to the authors, people in the market place is analogous to raw material in production. Finding, winning, and keeping customers in marketing are analogous to procurement, assembly, and shipping goods. As production adds value to raw material similarly marketing adds value by solving problems of people.
